Just four months ago, Michael Bishop was seen laughing with fellow quarterback Kerry Joseph at the latter's introductory news conference with the Toronto Argonauts media.

But the smile was wiped off Bishop's face Wednesday after the Canadian Football League team placed him on waivers.

Though CFL players are often placed on 48-hour waivers as a means of creating roster flexibility from game to game, the move is unusual for quarterbacks since they aren't part of the league's import/non-import ratio.

The biggest problem in Winnipeg was Kelly trying to jam the round players into the square holes in the playbook.
Now that somebody has finally realized that doesn't work, and the plays are being made to fit the players a little better, Bishop looks better, and the rest of the offence has fallen a little more into place.
What I think is amazing is how far Alexis Serna has developed now that he doesn't have coach Berry publicly humiliating him. I once though he was a lost cause, but he has turned into a very bright spot on the team.

Bishop looked good. A few of his passes were dropped and should have been caught (Bowman)

Never should have been released. The person who let this confidential document out of the bag should get their knuckles rapped at the least or fired at the worst.

He will not get over it as long as Joseph is there and playing.

It appears it was a CFL staffer, name not yet released, who released the contents of the confidential waiver wire.
The interesting thing is, all teams put players on waivers. Toronto tested the waters with 20 player, another team, no name of course, had 30 players on the lise, but some goof decided to focus on Bishop, and the media ran with it after the information hit the internet.

Is there any word on who let the story leak?

The recallable waiver list is meant to be confidential, and has been confidential up to now, known only to CFL general managers, player personnel staff and the league offices. Players don't usually know they are on it, most players are on the list at some point in time. It is a tactic, a chess move, basically.

I hear Rita thought it was secret waivers, and was mad the press let it out.

Not sure but I believe picking up a player on waivers is slightly different than in the NHL ...

Placing a player on waivers to attract interest from other teams ...

For example if the Riders claim Bishop off waivers ... The Argos have the right to pull Bishop back off waivers and negotiate a trade with the Riders for him instead ...

Kinda like fishing Roadie. You put your Bishop in the water and see how many bites you get.

LOL

I think the Riders should sign him for this season.
